Listening to the creations of Kypski leads you to realise that some producers push the boundaries so much further than others. Incorporating a concept of using a turntable as an instrument, Kypski has recorded this extremely creative EP, Solidary Confinement in one take. Each track differing from the other whilst holding the theme of creativity. Ouverture has an opening feel, the title track Solidary Confinement is a collaboration with Ali the Architect and Benjamin Herman bringing an element of Jazz. Kyppschwinger brings through the electronic dance whilst Cellonly rounds off the EP with a great rendition which sounds effortless to the listener, but really displays the power of the art known as Syntablism. Named such as the turntable is connected with a synthesizer, manipulated by the instrumentalist and creating a unique sound.
Kypski, from Utrecht in the Netherlands, picked up this style from Germany’s Luigi SirCut Comito. Kypski and SirCut run tutorials and host a group of interested participants to learn about and push the parameters of the artform. Kypski continues to tour and will be performing this style on his travels. Touring is second nature for the former Dutch turntable champion who has been touring with different musical projects for over 2 decades.
Still innovating, Kypski is part of a new project which is pioneering a new genre, Modbap. Soon to be released on BeatPPL, this project is now eagerly awaited.
