Considering the current restrictions on liberty at this time. The title of this track brought a hope for moment of uplifting. It delivers that and much more. A wonderfully quirky start with a sincere sounding sample that goes on to enter into bright and chirpy chords. An already grabbing start develops with a fitting popsicle melody.
A great track by Richelle who is known for and strongly believes in expressing creativity through music along with pushing boundaries. Based in Brussels, Belgium, Richelle became a multi-instrumentalist from an early age starting by learning flute, clarinet, saxophone and then the drums. He started producing hip hops beats at the age of 15 for his friends to rap on.
2011 saw the birth of Pelican Fly records. A label which prides itself on being spontaneous and lacking ‘normal’ structure. It was started alongside one of Richelle’s DJ partners, Slow and the tight team have remained ever since. Richelle is seen as the A&R. He has another DJ partnership with Mr Tweeks, who manages the label. The duo go under the name of ‘1180’ which is the postcode of Uccle where they lived. They also have very forward thinking releases out as well.
Pelican Fly never do, but could boast having the vision to release early from produers like Lido, Sinjin Hawke and Cashmere Cat. They continue to look for producers that push a new or unique sound which is proving strong, seeing recent releases from Jaymie Silk and Boi Wonder. The label took it’s name from a Caz Clay track ‘Hey DJ’ and is one to continue to watch.
