Sometimes you come across a piece that speaks to you through perfectly engineered machinery. My selection this week touches a sweet spot through its ability to blend mechanical sounds with instruments so seamlessly. The intro warms you in with touches of both, before the robotic voice denotes the switch into the main body, which continues to glide with a groove step beat whilst the the instruments and mechanicals hit you with fully rhythmic stabs.
This Machine Builds Another Machine is constructed by Blatwax from Brisbane. He will use pseudonyms on occasion and you may know his productions under Black Math or Harder Senpai. Released on the Nightowl label, which is fast becoming one of my favourites, with many different artists releasing fantastic and refreshing content.
This mechanical Jazzy piece is likely to stay a staple in my sets for a long time. Its constantly moving frame makes it easy to listen to over and over, which means I will select it repeatedly.
